Quality Engineer

Caragh Precision is a medical device manufacturing company and a leader in the manufacture of precision engineered products for the top global medical device companies.  It has over 100 CNC Machining Centres and assists in all stages of the product lifecycle from concept realisation to manufacturing.  Based in Parkmore Galway, it specialises in Cardiovascular, Structural Heart and Orthopaedics.

Role Description

Fantastic new opportunity for a Quality Manufacturing Engineer to work as part of a well-established medical device manufacturing company in Galway. This is a full-time permanent position reporting to the Quality Manager and working as part of the overall Quality Team. You will be responsible for managing the quality of the product on the production floor, working collaboratively and using clear communication.

Main Duties

Technical Support

• Complete daily walk around and check/analyse product quality, paperwork and gauging
• Support the operator in setting up the machine
• Ensure Quality of First Off
• Estimate Cycle Time and ensure they are being achieved

Documentation and Standards

• Ensure all documentation e.g. SOP for work practices, Works Orders, Tooling Set Up sheets, Process Control Sheets are appropriate and are being completed correctly and promptly
• Understand and adhere to QMS requirements
• Ensure the quality standards are understood, achieved and maintained
• Train others in quality standards and product requirements

Problem Solving and Decision Making

• Use problem solving abilities and support Engineering and Quality though A3 meetings
• Demonstrate good decision making on the floor

Performance and Innovation

• Engineer jobs is to ensure product quality requirements are met while maximising productivity and ensure operators are being efficient with their time
• Liaise with Cell Leads/Engineering Manager to ensure best available Tooling and Processes are being used
• Adopt a lean mindset and maximise efficiencies and performance

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a machining environment with a preference for the Medical Device Manufacturing Sector
• A Degree or Higher Certificate in Mechanical Engineering with appropriate experience in a precision machine environment is a distinct advantage and highly desirable
• A good understanding of statistics with experience in measurement system analysis and process capability studies
• Numerate with strong analytical skills and a proven track record in problem solving and decision making
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Teams
• ISO9000, ISO13485 experience is an advantage
• New product introduction and manufacturing process transfer experience would be an advantage
• Excellent teamworking
• Strong communication skills across different stakeholders and levels
• Innovative and continuous improvement mindset
• Excellent attention to detail & organisation skills required
