Caragh Precision was established in 1982 to provide manufacturing support to multinational companies locating in Ireland. Services included design and manufacture of tools and fixtures and machined parts production for a variety of industrial sectors.

From its inception, the business has focused on providing the highest levels of product and service quality. This principle has been maintained through continuous investment in the best available technology, constant personnel upskilling at all levels, with Lean Manufacturing methods at the core of all our operations.

Medical Devices Manufacturing Sector

In 1996 the company began supplying the international multinational medical device manufacturing sector.

In 2007 a new 40,000 sq. ft. climate-controlled plant was constructed and cleanroom and passivation facilities were added in 2011.

We completed a second expansion of 20,000 sq ft in 2019 and have completed a third expansion of 35,000 in 2023.

Today the total footprint is 95,000 sq. ft., dedicated to medical device manufacturing, and the company has evolved as a strategic supplier to many of the world’s leading corporations, especially in the fields of cardiovascular and orthopaedic products.
Continuous Investment

Consistent with a long-standing strategic policy of investing in the best available technology, the 70-plus CNC machining centres on site are reflective of the most accurate and efficient in the industry.

This policy also extends to our extensive metrology laboratory and high-level inspection equipment used throughout the manufacturing process.

Management Development in Caragh Precision

Project Description: Management Development initiatives in Caragh Precision are co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Enterprise Ireland under the Border, Midland and Western Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020.

Aims: The aim of this project is to develop a Company-wide competence in the area of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) in anticipation of future trends in the global medical device manufacturing industry.

Results: An experienced management resource with suitable expertise was identified and appointed with a brief to develop the necessary competencies throughout the business.

Capital Investment in Caragh Precision

Capital Investment Initiatives in this Company are co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Enterprise Ireland under the Border, Midland and Western Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020.

The aim of this investment is to purchase physical assets. Increased productivity and competitiveness was achieved as a result of this investment.

R&D in Caragh Precision

Project Description: R&D initiatives in Caragh Precision are co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Enterprise Ireland under the Border, Midland and Western Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020.

Aims: The aims are (i) to develop an advanced manufacturing process in the area of orthopaedic medicine and (ii) to develop manufacturing processes for miniaturised components in the area of minimally invasive cardiovascular medicine. A further aim is to increase overall R&D activity which will drive company development.

Results: The orthopaedic products manufacturing process has been developed to a high level of efficiency and has resulted in increased business from one multinational producer and serious interest from another. Further work is in hand to develop material finishing to a very high standard. In the cardiovascular area, processes have been developed to manufacture more than thirty complex components for four multinational customers and comparable levels of development are ongoing.
